The international district

Did you know that

The international district is an urban revitalization project launched in 2004.

Neighbourhood profile

Would you like to explore a prestigious, contemporary urban space? Make a detour to Montreal’s international district, between the central business district and Old Montreal. This district was designed to reflect the international character of Montreal – home to more than sixty international organizations.

Be sure to stroll through Square Victoria, redeveloped as an urban park, and admire the art nouveau entrance portico from the Paris metro system. Next to the Palais des congrès, you’ll find a public square named in honour of Jean-Paul Riopelle, the famous Quebec painter and sculptor. It is home to one of his works – the fountain sculpture La Joute.
